HB女子學校葛愛麗：我喜欢学中文

　大家好! 我的中文名字叫葛愛麗,英文名字叫Emily Gudbranson。住在俄亥俄, 克里夫蘭,今年十七歲,是Hathaway Brown女子學校十二年級的學生。我學中文學了三年多了,覺得漢語很有意思。明年我在大學也想繼續學中文。現在我在中文四班,我們每六天上五次中文課。每天我都迫不急待想去上課。課上老師敎我們很多的成語, 幫我們提高中文水平。我最喜歡的成語是: “肉飽字打拘一去不回頭.”這個成語我覺得很有意思!
　　　另外我喜歡學漢語因爲我覺得中文書法很漂亮。我十年級的時候, 老師敎我們寫書法. 從那時起, 我就愛上了中文書法了。我非常喜歡王羲之和顔眞卿的書法作品。今年在學校我還申請到了做書法項目的基金,在年底, 我會做完很多有關書法的功課。我希望有一天能去中國學習書法。現在無論我多忙每天都想練習書法。
　　　偶爾, 我的中文老師在課上讓我門看中國電影。我覺得中國電影都很精彩。我常常寧願看中國電影, 而不去看美國電影。因爲我從來都沒有去過中國, 所以我覺得看中國電影幫我更好地認識中國。在中文課里我們看過: “大紅燈籠高高挂,” “山楂木對之戀,” “Go 啦啦Go”。這些電影不僅好看, 而且幫我提高中文發音水平。儘管我看中國電影的時候需要看英文字幕, 但我希望有一天不用英文字幕。
　　　現在, 中文在 世界上普及廣泛。如果想成爲世界公民, 我們這一代人應該學習中文。 可是我更喜歡中國文化和話言, 所以我更愛學中文。中國文化和美國的文化有很大不同, 對我來説就象是呼吸 新鮮空氣。中國有五千年的文明史,我覺得很神秘,我很喜歡。 我會繼續學下去, 希望有一天去中國直接和中國人對話。
　

Hello, everyone! My Chinese name is Ge Aili, and my English name is Emily Gudbranson. I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and am a 17-year-old, 12th grade student at Hathaway Brown, a girls’ school. I’ve studied Chinese for three years, and think Mandarin is very interesting. Next year, I also want to continue studying Chinese in college. Right now, I am in Chinese level 4, where we have Chinese class five times every six days. Every day I can’t wait to start class, where our teacher has taught us a lot of idioms. This helps me improve my Chinese level. My favorite idiom is “if you give a dog a meatball, he won’t look back.” I think this idiom is really interesting!
In addition, I like to learn Chinese because I think that Chinese calligraphy is very beautiful. In tenth grade, my teacher taught us how to write calligraphy. Since then, I fell in love with Chinese calligraphy. I really like the works of calligraphy of Wang Xizhi and Yen Chen. This year at school, I also applied to do a funded calligraphy project, and by the end of the year, I will have learned a lot about calligraphy, and hope to one day go to China to learn more. Now, no matter how busy I am, every day I want to practice calligraphy.
Occasionally, my Chinese teacher lets us watch Chinese movies during class. I think Chinese movies are very exciting. I often prefer to watch Chinese movies instead of American movies. Because I have never been to China, I think that Chinese films help me better understand China. In Chinese class we have seen: “Raise the Red Lantern,” “Under the Hawthorne Tree,” “Go LaLa Go.” These films are not only nice to watch, but they also help me improve my level of Chinese pronunciation. Even though I watch Chinese movies with English subtitles, I one day hope to be able to watch them without English subtitles.
Now, Chinese is very popular. To become a global citizen, our generation should learn Chinese. But I really like Chinese language and culture, so I love to learn Chinese. Chinese culture and American culture are very different, but for me, I find Chinese culture to be a breath of fresh air. China has a history of 5,000 years that I find very mysterious and love. I keep learning, and hope to one day go to China and engage in direct dialogue with Chinese people.
