Columbus, Ohio—Governor-elect Ted Strickland named former Ohio
Senator John Glenn and his wife Annie honorary co-chairs of the
Strickland-Fisher Inauguration Tuesday. David J. Leland was named
chair of the Inaugural Steering Committee.
Governor-elect Strickland will be officially sworn in to office in a
private ceremony on Monday, January 8th, 2007. The Glenns and Leland
will oversee planning of the public ceremony and inaugural
festivities which will be held Saturday, January 13th, 2007. More
details, including an inauguration website, will be announced in the
coming weeks.
“We are delighted to help lead the inauguration events for
Governor-elect Strickland,” said Senator Glenn. “The hope and
optimism that marked this campaign for governor will be on full
display when we celebrate Ohio’s new beginning.”
“I am honored to have the support and guidance of John and Annie as
we begin our work to Turnaround Ohio,” said Governor-elect
Strickland. “This inauguration will welcome all Ohioans to join in
our shared celebration of hope for a brighter future for our great
state.”
Also Tuesday, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman outlined the
principles that will guide the transition process.
“We are committed to a transition that is inclusive and draws upon
Ohio’s talented citizens from all corners of our state,” Coleman
said. “The top priority of the transition team is to lay the
groundwork for Ted and Lee’s Turnaround Ohio plan. We will undertake
comprehensive department and agency reviews and search for
cost-saving measures and initiatives wherever possible.” |
