WASHINGTON – Today, Representatives Marcia Fudge
(OH-11) and Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) released the following statement
announcing Cleveland State University’s federal grant of $599,998
awarded by the Economic Development Administration’s Build to Scale
Program. These funds will be used to establish the Entrepreneurial
Manufacturer Digitization Support (EMDiS) Center to assist small
manufacturers with considering, acquiring, and implementing
cost-effective digital manufacturing technologies. These new
state-of-the-art digital manufacturing tools will allow small
manufacturers to be competitive with foreign markets, assist with
meeting supplier quality compliance and lead to the creation and
retention of 100 regional jobs.
“I am proud this award will help to establish a digital
manufacturing Center of Excellence in my district,” said Rep. Fudge.
“The ability of Cleveland State University to provide digital
services to small manufacturers is invaluable as they attempt to
compete with larger companies. As many of our small businesses
struggle to recover from the effects of the current pandemic, the
EDA’s award will help spur economic recovery and growth in our
region.”
“I am thrilled to announce close to $600k for Cleveland State
University to boost Northern Ohio innovation,” said Rep. Kaptur.
“During these challenging circumstances compounded by ever widening
inequality, these funds will help ensure our region stays on the
cutting edge of job creation and technological innovation going
forward.” |
