Dr. & Mrs. Teh-Kuang and Grace Chang
Diamond 60th Wedding AnniversaryOctober 11th 2019 marks the Diamond
Wedding Anniversary of Dr. & Mrs. Teh-Kuang and Grace Chang. Married
on October 11, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, Dr. and Mrs. Chang,
well-respected and cherished members of the community, celebrate
their 60th Wedding Anniversary in Muncie, Indiana, their home since
1966.
Dr. Chang, a Professor of Political Science at Ball State
University, first met Mrs. Chang, a respected Certified Public
Accountant, at a new year’s eve party in Taipei, Taiwan at the cusp
of 1956. Dr. Chang not only had to fend off Mrs. Chang’s many
suitors, but also had to gain the approval of her Shanghainese
parents and four siblings before a courtship could begin. The
budding romance became a three-year long-distance relationship when
Dr. Chang went to study at the University of Washington in Seattle.
They became engaged on March 17, 1956 and wed on October 11, 1959,
when Mrs. Chang joined her fiancé. They later moved to Washington,
D.C., where Dr. Chang completed his Ph.D. in International Relations
with straight A’s from The American University.
After living in Seattle, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., Dr. Chang
accepted a professorship at Ball State University in Muncie,
Indiana, for the newlyweds to pursue a new life and start a family.
Muncie immediately reminded him of his Changting, Fujian hometown in
the Chinese countryside, and so the young couple stayed and made the
America Midwest their home for over 53 years.
Dr. and Mrs. Chang’s family now includes four children and four
grandchildren. Angelo, and his wife Darlene, are career diplomats
currently serving overseas with their children Sabrina and Dylan.
Angelin is America’s first female Grammy Award-winning pianist and

the field of healthcare management at Providence Health and
Services, lives in Los Angeles with husband Ron Escopete, an
executive in the shipping industry, and their amazing award-winning
daughters Veronica and Verity. Angel, a pioneering womenswear
