David Lee: 2320 on His SA

“I’m so happy that I got 2320 out of 2400 on my October SAT I test (800 on Math, 770 on Writing and 750 on Reading).” This is what David Lee wrote me in his e-mail around the Thanksgiving of 2006, a gift to me that nothing else could top it.
Having been a teacher for so many years I know what this score stands for. But I was still shocked when I read a girl from Wuhan, China, who got 2330 and said to be the world’s number 1 scorer among the test takers in October 2006. If that were true, David’s score could  mean more on a global scale.
I knew David two years ago when he came to the U.S. from Korea. Dr. Lee, his father, told me that the sole purpose of their coming to the U.S. is to provide David with an access to a great education. In just a little over two years their goals are about to be reached.
David is a senior in the Kilbourn High School of Worthington. He has a GPA of 4.3. He has taken numerous AP classes that are challenging and rewarding. He would have been recognized as the National Merit Scholarships Semifinalist had he been a U.S. citizen. He has applied to the Harvard University for the Early Action. Now he is waiting on his tiptoes.
