〔本報訊〕位于克里夫蘭唐人街(40街PAYN AVE)的LOFTWORKS大樓里,有一所Townsend學習中心,提供專業輔導,幫助中學生做SAT和ACT的考試題。本報在二周前收到中心負責人Sarah
Littlefield女士來電,她説這個Townsend學習中心是幫助孩子學習,做考前訓練,因爲這個中心設在中國城,她希望能幫的上鄰里之間的孩子。四月十六日本報記者採訪了Sarah
Littlefield女士,並參觀了Townsend學習中心。

Littlefield女士熱情開朗,她介紹了這個Townsend學習中心的情况。她説,這個學習中心雖然只成立五年,但敎授者有30多年的備考經驗,中心培養了不少學生。敎學目標是讓學生掌握合適的答題速度,有效利用考試時間。學會怎么猜答案,何時猜答案。學習刪除法解題,熟悉題目陷阱和欺騙性答案選項,寫出高分作文,掌握關鍵數學概念和語法要點等。
Townsend學習中心,有兩項專業敎師:一位輔導數學,一位輔導閲讀/寫作。中心提供最新、最權威,由官方出題人編撰的ACT、SAT試題資料。同時由敎師、家長、學生、輔導員一起共同合作,以獲得最佳敎學效果。考慮到學生不同的層次和需求,以及學生家長的時間安排,制定不同的授課時間和班級大小:有一對一,由專家單獨輔導數學或閲讀寫作備考;有小組學習(一組最多六名學生),但老師也可以個別輔導,回答問題,小組學習中,每個學生都能得到照顧;大班學習,大班是交互式敎學,每一個班級8-14名學生。

Littlefield説:這不是秘密也並非魔術,而是讓您最透徹的掌握知識技能,如果您每一堂課都到場,並完成作業,我們保證我們的學生SAT分數提高150,ACT至少提高3分,如果不能達到以上標準,我們免費再爲學生提供一次上課機會。Sarah

Joe S raised his SAT score enough to get him on the CSU basketball
team with a scholarship.
