Lt. Governor Lee Fisher made the following
statement today on the Department of Energy’s decision to extend the
final review of USEC’s application to build a new uranium enrichment
facility at the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon:
"I'm pleased that the Department of Energy has
reconsidered its decision on the loan guarantee for a new enrichment
facility at Piketon. USEC and the Department of Energy must work
together to clear the remaining hurdles and restart this effort as
quickly as possible--thousands of Ohio jobs depend on it. I will do
whatever I can to keep this process on track and help this critical
economic development project move forward."
