The Award winner this year was Dr. Angelin Chang,?a professor in Department of Music of CSU. Dr. Chang is an internationally renowned pianist, who received Grammy Award in 2007.

Angelin chang's Speech

Happy New Year of the Ox! This year promises to be one of hard work, yet great rewards.
The ancient philosopher, Lao Tze is known to have said that"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
While it is my great honor to be the very first recipient of the Distinguished Chinese Faculty Award from Cleveland State University's Chinese American Faculty and Staff Association, we must particularly recognize Dr. Lily Eng for taking the huge step in establishing this significant award and the CAFSA Board for seeing to its fruition and maintenance for the years that follow.
CAFSA is very special to me. When I first arrived at CSU, I remember feeling a warm welcome and support from a wonderfully diverse and unified group of Chinese American faculty and staff. In turn, it was a delight to serve on the CAFSA Board and a continued joy to meet whenever we can, at least at our annual picnic and lunar new year celebrations. At CAFSA, we are not only colleagues, we are friends.
I am especially touched to be the first to receive this esteemed award because I know that ANY member of our community would be a well-deserving recipient. While I sincerely thank you for your support, I look forward to celebrating YOUR recognitions in the years to come.
Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
I look forward to our continued journey together of a thousand miles in doing what we do best at our university and at CAFSA, which is not just to make a living, but to make for better lives.
Thank you all!
