TCP Inc. Combats Climate Change at Second Global
Lamp Forum
Joint Communiqué commits manufacturers to promoting energy efficient
lighting
AURORA, Ohio (August 27, 2008) - Taking TCP, Inc.'s message about
energy efficient lighting global, David Johnson, quality and
education manager at TCP, signed a joint communiqué to fight climate
change at the second Global Lamp Forum in Tokyo July 4. Johnson is
the TCP representative for the National Electrical Manufacturers
Association (NEMA).
Representatives of lighting manufacturers around the world signed
the communiqué, expressing their commitment to saving energy through
more efficient lighting sources. Working closely with local and
regional governments and consumers, they agreed to promote and
encourage energy efficient lamps and lighting systems in homes,
commercial buildings and other applications.
"TCP is committed to spreading the message of the importance of
environmental sustainability," said TCP CEO Ellis Yan. "Energy
efficient lighting is an easy way to make a huge impact on climate
change. We are very excited we can be a part of this global effort."
While at the forum, Johnson gave a presentation about U.S. energy
regulations and legislation and possible opportunities for global
collaboration with NEMA. He is also involved with a NEMA task force
that is developing an industry position for lamp disposal and
recycling.
Johnson, along with other manufacturers who attended the forum, held
the day before the G8 Summit in Hokkaido, agree that sharing their
knowledge about legislative lighting trends, activities of their
associations and market information can help in making considerable
contributions to energy savings and climate change.
