Akron, Ohio – Asian Services In Action will host its second annual An Afternoon in Asia, an Asian cultural event on Saturday, August 16, noon to 4 pm at the Main Akron-Summit County Public Library.
The event will feature cultural performances and demonstrations from countries spanning the Asian continent and the Pacific Ocean.Highlights include performances by the Filipino, Mon and Karen communities of Akron, calligraphy demonstration, and arts and crafts activities for children. Blood pressure and cholesterol screenings as well as valuable health education materials will be provided free of charge.
“The goal of An Afternoon in Asia is to bring the broader Akron community together for a day of celebration and cultural exchange. It is also an opportunity to provide recognition to the rich, diverse cultures which exist in the City of Akron,” said Michael Byun, ASIA’s Acting Executive Director.
Last year the event drew over 300 people. The event is made possible by the generous support of the lead sponsors, John S. and James L. A special thank you goes to the Akron-Summit County Public Library for providing the venue for this event. Admission is free and free parking is available.
