Invitation to Leaders in the Asian American Community to discuss how
the American Red Cross, Greater Cleveland Chapter, can help assist
victims of earthquake in China
Dear Leader in the Asian American Community:
The American Red Cross, Greater Cleveland Chapter is deeply
saddened by the devastating earthquake which struck China on May 12th
and which has caused such terrible loss in many provinces.
As you may know, the American Red Cross is part of a
worldwide humanitarian organization, the International Federation of
Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which includes the Red Cross
Society of China. The primary mission of the Federation is to provide
emergency assistance to victims of disaster around the world and to
alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found.
The Chinese-American community in Greater Cleveland,
particularly those with family members living in those affected
provinces, may be interested to know of the global service network
administered by the International Red Cross Movement.
The American Red Cross, Greater Cleveland Chapter
International Services Committee is holding a meeting to discuss the
role of the Red Cross in international disaster response, particularly
as it relates to this week’s earthquake in China.

*A portion of the dinner is being underwritten.
We will share information about Red Cross relief efforts to
aid the earthquake victims and discuss methods to provide assistance
to families impacted by this tragedy. We would also like to take this
opportunity to update leaders within the Asian American community
about local Red Cross relief activities.
