Columbus, OH – (February 26, 2008) – Ellis Yan, innovator, founder
and CEO of TCP, Inc., the world's leading energy efficient lighting
manufacturer, was today’s keynote speaker at the 12th Annual Ohio
Energy Management & Restructuring Conference. Business leaders,
facility managers and sustainability executives from major companies,
organizations and utilities in Ohio are attending the two-day
conference to gain insight on the best practices in energy management
as well as the effective, efficient and innovative use of energy.
The major focus of this year’s conference centers on the Ohio Energy,
Jobs and Progress Plan and how it will impact electric rates on
January 1, 2009 and beyond. While leading utility officials offered
detail on what to expect and how to best prepare for the future,
energy experts explained how to manage, control and reduce energy
costs through the use of energy efficient products, emerging
technologies and renewable energy sources.
As a company rooted in energy conservation, TCP’s energy
efficient lighting products provide an energy saving alternative for
consumers and businesses looking to save money and protect the
environment. Yan's keynote message focused on corporate social
responsibility and the immediate cost-saving and environmental
benefits associated with energy efficient lighting. “TCP’s foundation
in sustainable manufacturing practices, and our commitment to produce
only environmentally friendly products, means we are selling more than
just light bulbs,” said Yan. “We sell energy efficiency and
sustainability.” Yan continued, “From cutting down on packaging waste,
to reducing energy use in our buildings, to optimizing the materials
that we use to manufacture our products, TCP is constantly working to
weave sustainability into the fabric of the company.”
TCP’s energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
use 75% less energy than incandescent light bulbs and last an average
of ten times longer. The company estimates the light bulbs it produces
accounts for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by more than
50,000 tons per day. Beyond CFLs, TCP is taking a leadership role in
the development of energy efficient LED products. It currently offers
a variety of LED options for the commercial and industrial markets,
including accent lighting and high and low bay lighting systems for
cold storage applications.
TCP, Inc. is the global leader in energy efficient
lighting innovations dedicated to creating high-quality products that
are brighter, longer lasting and better for the environment.
Headquartered outside Cleveland, Ohio, the company manufactures nearly
1.4 million energy saving CFLs every day, accounting for a majority of
the CFLs sold in the United States and an estimated annual reduction
in carbon dioxide emissions of more than 118 million pounds. TCP’s
innovative product line extends beyond CFLs to include cold cathode,
LED and linear lighting solutions. The company markets a variety of
energy efficient lighting brands for commercial, industrial and
residential applications, including n:vision at The Home Depot and
SpringLight. TCP employs more than 15,000 people globally and totaled
more than $300 million in sales in 2007. For more information, visit
