Mayor Frank Jackson to Give Inaugural State of the City Address to The City Club of Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH—The Honorable Frank L. Jackson, mayor of the City of Cleveland, will give his inaugural State of the City address at noon on Thursday, February 23, 2006, to The City Club of Cleveland. The Friday Forum will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 777 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland.
A native Clevelander, Jackson attended public schools, earned his associates degree at Cuyahoga Community College, and earned his bachelors, masters and law degrees at Cleveland State University. He was elected to the Cleveland City Council in 1989 to represent Ward 5 and also served as chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee during the White administration.
In 2002, Jackson was elected by the 21-member City Council to serve as City Council president. In November 2005, he was elected to serve as Cleveland’s 56th mayor.
“These State of the City addresses are not only a wonderful City Club tradition, they are an important part of our civic dialogue,” said Jim Foster, executive director of The City Club of Cleveland. “There seems to be more interest in Mayor Jackson’s address than we have ever seen for a State of the City.”
