 主辦策劃這次活動的負責人陳嘉敏發言:Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you for joining us today. This event would not be possible without many people's help, especially Doug Nguyen, Fil de Banate, Terri de Banate, Radhika Reddy, Laura Huang, Jason Tang, Tony Chen, Ella Fong, Tracey Necek, Mayor Bibb, Angela Shute-Woodson, and several of my board members, please stand. They are the first Asian Liaison Advisory Board. Lastly, my friends and community partners in the audience, it is you why I work. We, the speakers, are here today because we want to hear your concerns, issues, suggestions, and ideas. Please talk to us and share your thoughts. You bring here fills my heart with joy and gratitude. Thank you for coming.
Today's White House initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders Great Lakes Regional Network Community Roundtable was a successful event because of the 20 commissioners and directors from various federal agencies who spoke, many were Asians. Having these leaders share their personal family immigrant stories, it was totally inspirational, and also comforting to know that these Asians have chosen to become "public servants" to serve us, the people of the immigrant and refugee communities. The other reason that today's event was special, was the audience, which comprised people from these Asian countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korean, Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. They showed the diversity of Cleveland. More importantly, many people in the audience stood up and ask questions of the speakers. The dialog is the goal of this Community Roundtable. Both speakers and attendees walked away from today' event knowing that many future conversations/meetings/events are needed.
