浦瑛開講:藝術生活 結交朋友

   4月7日來自辛辛那提的上海人小杰突然來克利夫蘭要請我吃飯,在吃飯的時候,她一直説:我們女人一定要好好照顧自己,要對自己好一點,吃完飯後,我請她喝酒,這是我第一次喝到這么好喝的自做啤酒,我們聊了一些女人的心里話,小杰是一位很成功的地産商,她也樂意公益,也是辛辛那提華人商會的領軍人物,昨日她提到最近在辛辛那提上演的話劇:China Lady,講述了在美國中國人的歷史,據説劇組的演員在上演的時候還被人家毆打….整個劇院就她一個中國人,她問我到底中國人在美國出了什么問題。

   我沒有勇氣正面回答她的問題,因爲這樣會得罪太多的人。我給她舉例説了:每一次我回中國我的母親總會對我説要小心中國太多騙子,我每一次回答我母親説沒有騙子,只有傻子,一個人會被騙,離不開的是的貪欲和自私,智慧的人會被騙嗎?在當今的社會,我們讓自己離慈悲喜捨近一點,那么我們就會享受人生美好的時光。

   4月8日,參加Irene好朋友女兒Mercedes Cheung的畢業音樂會,好棒的演奏,Mercedes是一位非常優秀的小提琴手,她馬上要去耶魯大學全奬學金繼續深造,父親也是小提琴藝術家,母親是一位藝術評委,全家人都是藝術家。
我們聽完她的演奏,爲她喝彩,並且讓她寫一點她對音樂感言:
   My name is Mercedes Cheung and I’m a Canadian-Chinese violinist. Previously, I was awarded full scholarships to study at the Juilliard School Pre-College, New England Conservatory of Music, and Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. I’m currently in Cleveland studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University with a full scholarship.
   I know my roots are from China, therefore I love China and Chinese people including their delicious food. I dream about visiting China to tour their beautiful cities and countryside in the future. I believe with my hard work, I’ll become one of the world's top violinists so I fulfill my dream to give concerts and masterclasses to students around the world; and contributing to the world and China, funding the endowment to build schools which could able to provide scholarships for talented students in financial need, assisting them come to U.S.A. to study in the top music schools.
   Next academic year, I will further my education at Yale University, School of Music, working for my Master of Music degree in Violin Performance. I believe that I will be back to perform in Cleveland. I love Cleveland, North America, and their people because I am educated and live here.
   Mercedes Cheung出生在音樂世家,音樂陪伴她成長,她從加拿大到美國來深造,父親陪同她一起來美國,在她的音樂里可以感受到她被愛保護着,我們祝福她並在不久會聆聽她更美的音樂。
   這次Irene邀請我們5位朋友一起去聆聽了Mercedes Cheung的畢業音樂會,聽完音樂會,在回家的路上,其中一位道友説她60年代來美國,在克利夫蘭住了50年,還是第一次走進CIM音樂廳,每次都是路過這里,現在她已經退休,她要開始好好享受生活….而我聽完音樂會感受到了父女情深,朋友友情,讓大家感受到音樂的魅力。
   我常常提醒自己:人要鼓勵自己學會眞誠,要爲別人鼓掌,這是給自己生命加油,因爲幸福和快樂,就是我們學會欣賞和感恩。

   一個偶然我和朋友Arjoy帶着我們的狗去喝咖啡,在店門外認識一位從紐約來的藝術家,Billy Gerard Frank,他4月12日在CIM講課,他是一位很有眼光的藝術家。這是他留給我他對克利夫蘭的印象:
   My talk and screening at the Cleavland institute of art was very inspirational to the students, sharing my art and professional practices to them. I was also inspired by the amount of talents and potential that these young artists exhibited in their work and the ideas they were exploring. I think Cleavland is ripe with opportunities as a city that could be a new art hub with a thriving art scene competing with cities like NY and LA.

   Billy Gerard Frank與我聊得非常愉快,他吿訴我:不是成功來的慢,是放棄的快,所以成功不是靠奇迹,而是靠時間,我體會到:伊利華報陪伴我,是我學習成長的動力。
   我們能堅持20多年做報紙,就是給自己一個學習的平台,無論現今紙媒有多么大的困難,但我知道堅持也是一種信仰,伊利華報陪伴我們一起成長20多年,有人説得好:人的生命似大水在奔流,不遇着島嶼、暗礁,難以激起瑰麗的浪花。不要失去信心,只要堅持不懈,就終會有成果的。
