,19年前的今天,値得思考,因爲恨,讓那么多無辜的人就這樣走了,而現在全球發生的疫情,値得全球人思考,回不去的日子,是因爲人心變了....
今天與黎巴嫩報社社長Pierre Bejjani一起午餐,我們談過去的美國和現在的美國。Pierre Bejjani
吿訴我:1980年,當時他高中畢業,就讀于美國在黎巴嫩辦的最好大學(Lebanese
university),一年後黎巴嫩內戰,父母擔心他的前途,讓他到美國求學,他在俄州大學攻讀土木工程碩士畢業後,就想回國幫助家族企業,沒有想到國家變革,他家企業也沒有了,他的親戚讓他去迪拜幫助家族企業,當時他在美國5年,已經喜歡這里,他認爲在美國他也可以照樣掙錢,他找到了工作。
就在1991年聖誕節他沒有了工作,他開始自己做外貿小生意,他做很簡單生意:批發氣球和小商品,他的客戶有CVS,Walgreen
,Marc’s,Walmart,還有一個有75個連鎖經營店的客戶,和一位Lee韓國客戶,他從小批發到全美國大批發,生意好到每天可以賺$5萬,2008年他最大的一個客戶75家連鎖店一下倒閉,上法庭都沒有拿回錢,當時他留下一些錢,朋友吿訴他一起經營購買10家加油站,他想試一試,最後所有的錢都歸零,他還説了:當時他是銀行A+客戶,銀行只認口袋有錢的人。
他需要從頭開始,在他最悲慘的時候,一個好朋友吿訴他,你人緣好,做報紙吧,最後他開始做報紙,一做10年,沒有賺錢,賺到的是友情和情意,我吿訴他:因爲做報紙,人們尊重您,在一個人到了谷底最讓人釋懷的就是再次獲得自信,做報紙沒有自信是堅持不下去的。
Pierre Bejjani還是克利夫蘭黎巴嫩社團領導,同時他也是州長團隊成員。
我對Pierre Bejjani説,您就是我們國家説的富二代,他的外公在黎巴嫩當了51年市長(紅帽子)他與三兄弟都有高學歷,他説黎巴嫩有5千年歷史文化,是很美麗的國家,我們都有相同願望:來美國求學工作,是爲了更好的生活。今天我們迷茫,我們選擇了美國,希望它還是我們向往的自由民主積極向上的國家。 |

In addition to running the Arabic/English newspaper Profile News
Ohio, Pierre Bejjani actively works in local Middle Eastern
communities and others to educate the public on the importance of
diversity within our cultures.
Bejjani, who is a native of Lebanon,serves as president of the
Cleveland American Middle East Organization, a nonpartisan political
action organization, and is founder and chair of the American
Lebanese Community Council,which promotes Lebanese heritage and
traditions. He's also a member of the advisory board for the U.S.
Army Grass Roots Recruiting Battalion of Northern Ohio.
As a supporter of Cleveland's arts community, Bejjani is on the
advisory board for the Cleveland Museum of Art and the advisory
committee for Cleveland Public ~heatre, which created its first
Arabic theater, Masrah Cleveland A1-Arabi, in 2018.
His activism captured the attention of Gov. Mike DeWine.DeWine
appointed Bejjani to the Governor Commission and the Board for the
Census 2020 in 2019 and to the restaurants and bars Committee to
Re-Open Ohio earlier this year. -Leslie Green |
