Global Health and Pandemics: A World Reshaped by COVID-19Description

Join CCWA for our first Foreign Policy Forum of the 2020-2021 season as we host a virtual conversation on global health and the COVID-19 pandemic with Thomas Bollyky. Mr. Bollyky is at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he serves as director of the global health program and senior fellow for global health. He will discuss advancements in health and urbanization over the past century and the ways in which the world has been made more vulnerable over time to emerging pathogens and plagues, like COVID-19. After a brief look at the past, Mr. Bollyky will talk about this pandemic, its spread, overall impact, and future implications for the U.S. and the world.
Thomas J. Bollyky is director of the Global Health program and senior fellow for global health, economics, and development at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). He is also an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University. Mr. Bollyky is the author of the book Plagues and the Paradox of Progress: Why the World Is Getting Healthier in Worrisome Ways and the founder and managing editor of Think Global Health.
