Week in Review: COVID-19 Updates from Cleveland City Hall
Coronavirus Prevention & Response: Week in Review

Dear Residents,
This week, I want to remind you that the use of masks in public spaces in the City of Cleveland is now mandatory and enforcement of this mask mandate is now in effect. Individuals and businesses that do not comply are subject to certain civil penalties. To report non-compliant businesses, residents should call the Cleveland Department of Public Health hotline at 216-857-7165. For individual or private residence complaints, residents should call the Police non-emergency line at 216-621-1234.
It is important to heed these warnings about the use of masks. Although the nice weather might tempt you to hold barbecues or other gatherings with friends and family, we are seeing an uptick in the number of cases arising from such gatherings. Avoid these gatherings to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. No one is immune from the virus and those who are infected may not always show symptoms. I also say this to young people, be cautious and always wear a mask. The number of cases involving people under 40 years old is increasing. Please ensure you are not the reason a loved one who is more susceptible to the virus becomes ill.

Here is a quick look at announcements made this week:
July 21: I swore in Aqueelah A. Jordan as Chief Assistant Prosecutor. Jordan previously served as an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor. Prior to that position, she was a member of the City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office and also served as Cleveland Municipal Court Interim Mediation Coordinator. July 23: I was joined by Police Chief Calvin D. Williams and Public Safety Director Karrie D. Howard for a virtual press conference where we gave updates regarding recent news about federal law enforcement in City of Cleveland. Watch the video on the City of Cleveland's Facebook page.
Testing for those with COVID-19 symptoms or those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 is available for free at local federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the City of Cleveland. To view a list of free testing sites in Cleveland, click here. To view Ohio Department of Health's map of testing sites, click here.
Beginning August 2020, bulk pick-up will operate on its regular schedule. Bulk pick-up will be conducted on the first full week of each month on residents' regular collection day. Residents should follow regular bulk pick-up guidelines.
As of July 23, there are 83 COVID-19 City resident fatalities and 3,871 cases of coronavirus in the City of Cleveland.
