Cleveland Clinic A note from our CEO and President Tomislav Mihaljevic, MD

Together, we’ve all done a lot to slow the spread of the coronavirus. But it won’t be going away soon. Here’s how to stay safe this summer.
States have reopened, and many have rushed to reunite with friends and loved ones. Despite the allure of returning to “normal,” we can’t let our guard down just yet.
COVID-19 is still in our communities. Ohio, Florida and other states have reported a rise in new cases since reopening. To protect ourselves and the most vulnerable members of our communities, we must continue to be mindful of the risks that exist around us.
We care about your family’s health and want to help you stay safe
There’s no magic formula for determining which events and activities are safe to participate in this summer. We’ll all likely face tough decisions about whether to attend barbecues, birthday parties or other gatherings. Of course, these enrich our lives but also could potentially spread the coronavirus.
As you weigh the potential risks and benefits of these situations, consider these factors:
  - Space: If you’re going to be around others, it’s generally safer to be outside. If the activity is indoors, is it in a well-ventilated space where you can keep distance between you and others?
-People: Are others who will be there likely to follow safety recommendations, such as social distancing and wearing a cloth face covering?
-Time: The longer you’re in close contact with others, the greater the risk that the coronavirus could spread.
When you do decide to participate in an activity or event, remember there are things you can do to protect yourself and others as much as possible, including:
-Maintain 6 feet of distance from others whenever possible.
-Wear a cloth face covering when social distancing will be hard.
-Stay home if you are sick.
-Wash your hands frequently.
-Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.-
Our experts have provided many tips to help you cope with the challenges of this new reality. You can find them all here.
We hope you are staying safe, healthy and happy.
