AIA Cleveland honors Cuyahoga County Public Library with 2019 Client of the Year Award

AIA Award recognizes CCPL for choosing Cleveland firms to execute its facilities master plan Parma, OH – November 4, 2019 – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Cleveland chapter announced Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) as the recipient of its 2019 Client of the Year Award. The award honors clients who consistently support Cleveland architects and architecture. CCPL was selected for choosing to work with Cleveland architecture firms in the execution of its facilities master plan, the most significant building improvement program in the Library's history. CCPL was honored at the annual AIA Cleveland Design Awards ceremony held at the Hilton Downtown Cleveland Hotel on November 1, 2019.
Adopted by the CCPL Board of Trustees in June 2010, the $110 million CCPL facilities master plan was one of the most significant investments in new work by local architects made by any public entity in Northeast Ohio over the past decade. CCPL completed 10 building replacement projects and 14 renovation projects. CCPL is continuing to work with local firms to design new branches in Bay Village and Richmond Heights.
"It is very important to us to hire local contractors, architects and construction management firms to execute our building replacement and renovation projects," said CCPL Executive Director Tracy Strobel. "We want to keep tax dollars circulating within our local economy. Working with local architects helps us ensure that our projects offer something unique to each community. As fellow Northeast Ohio residents they understand the unique characteristics of each community we serve and reflect those characteristics in the design of our buildings."
Based in Washington, D.C., the AIA has been the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals and allied partners since 1857. With nearly 300 state and local chapters, the AIA serves as the voice of the architecture profession. For information about the AIA Cleveland chapter, visit www.aiacleveland.com.
