On March 25th, the Chinese Woman
Association Cleveland event was a celebration for international
Woman's Day held at Bo Loong Chinese Restaurant. the event was a
combination of unique discussions and expositions featuring Master
Ven. Shih Dengjue Abbot of Linghui Temple, in Guangdong, China, with
cultural entertainment provided by the Ling Yun Rising Star School,
FYanlai Dance Academy, and Global Entertainment featuring Humble G,
the Fiddla. The event was hosted by the Chinese Woman’s Associate
Cleveland (CWAC)
The publisher of the Erie Chinese Journal is Annie Pu Ying who is a
civic treasure and public icon.
She is also my student. The impact the event held was extremely
powerful because it combined many cultural essences with a spiritual
education that leads to a much more fulfilling and healthy way of
living your life.
Master Ven Shih Dengjue’s lecture on health and living
started with the proposition that in order to be healthy – you much
be health in spirit, mind, and body. He went on to give examples of
Buddhist techniques for achieving balance in your three phrases of
life – (spirit, mind and body). He later answered questions from the
audience and gave centuries old wisdom combined with his own
training and experience. It was joyfully received by all.
The entertainment was next on the agenda, as the restaurant served a
sumptuous meal of several courses.
Ling Yun Rising Star School started the entertainment with grace,
innocence and the energy of youth. They put the audience in a state
of appreciation and joy, recreating traditional Chinese themes that
are uniquely universal. They were followed by the FYanlai Dance
Academy – who practitioners included some of the most gifted and
talent artists in Cleveland. They danced, tumbled and even balanced
a cherry tree on the nose of lead chorographer Ling Yun – while she
danced and swayed gracefully.
The next entertainment was provided by Global Entertainment’s-
humble g, the Fiddla, who completely captured the audience and took
them on various musical journeys through his violin. Humble g plays
a most unique and unusual style of violin- combining
classical/traditional melodies with hip-hop/Popular style. This
moved both the old and young.
Next, humble g, the Fiddla, joined with Global
Entertainment’s drum orchestra known as The Afripeansand preceded to
“edutain” the crowd led by Dr. L. C. Woods RN, M.D., MetD1 and
McKinley Tate III- CEO of Global Entertainment. They taught, played,
sang and excited all who listened.
They defined Afripean as a mixture of African and European
influence/cultures, which is important to notice,since nature and
man prefers mixtures of elements rather than any singular artifact
or element. The very act of reproduction it-self is caused by a
combing of male and female elements.
The event was concluded by Global Entertainment’s humble g and The
Afripeans performing the song, “The Other Side of Freedom”,
featuring Henry Duncan and James Holder. Dr. Woods explained that to
be truly free as a human being- you must learn the unique abilities
of your spirit, mind and body – this is the basis of the Trivalent
Understanding Noetics (T.U.N.) that Dr. Woods teaches and Annie Pu
Ying is a student of. He stated that after learning how to operate
your spirit, mind and body- you are not only free you have arrived
at “The Other Side of Freedom”.
The song was described by one middle-aged Chinese male in the
audience as, “The perfect ending song for the occasion”. He said,
‘it had the perfect message and energy’– I think so too.
