Cleveland Asian Festival Volunteers
Preparing for May Event
by Wayne A. Wong The 8th Cleveland Asian Festival is the weekend of
May 20-21, and the all-volunteer leaders have been working hard all
winter to make sure the event continues to be the best authentic
showcase of Asian culture in Ohio. The event which attracted over
48,000 last year takes place in AsiaTown at E. 27th and Payne
Avenue. A general committee meeting was held at Li Wah restaurant to
discuss the status of the many different committees that organize
the event. As in the past, planned are 20+ authentic Asian food
vendors, 100+ exhibitors/vendors, 2 stages of cultural performances,
martial arts, and fashion, Asian-Pop dance contest, free health
screening pavilion, activities pavilion, free Asiatown shuttle tour,
plus a lot more. New this year, the festival is having a CAF Pop-up
Business Incubator Contest - continuing the goal of promoting
economic development in AsiaTown. Visit http://clevelandasianfestival.org
