Pastor Shares Unique Insights from Personal Meetings with Trump

Perplexed pundits pondering the rise of Donald Trump to the position of presumptive Republican presidential nominee rarely conclude that deep and reflective thought is involved on the part of his supporters. Speaking to an overflowing assembly of members and guests of the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans at the Brecksville Library on June 28, 2016, The Reverend Darrell Scott provided unique insights based upon his personal meetings with Mr. Trump.
Reverend Scott, senior pastor of the New Spirit Revival Center in Cleveland Hts., Ohio first met Mr. Trump in New York six years ago and was stuck by the little things he observed, such as the genuine warmth and friendliness he witnessed between street vendors and newspaper stand owners and Mr. Trump. While Mr. Trump was raised in a successful real estate environment, Reverend Scott explains that Mr. Trump was not coddled, but rather was on construction sites with those who do the hard work of bringing buildings to life and his continued connection and caring for the well-being of those beyond the executive suite is sincere.
As pastors are certainly courted by both major political parties, Reverend Scott was on the alert for any sense of insincerity, and states that instead he found Mr. Trump to be not only gracious and respectful, but an exceptionally good listener.
To critics who note that Mr. Trump has changed his positions on various issues over time, Reverend Scott responds that wise men change and only fools stay the same. He suggested that people might reflect upon how their own opinions may have changed through the course of their respective life experiences.
Reverend Scott pointed out that while he himself has been criticized for supporting Mr. Trump, he has always voted for the person, not the party, and has therefore voted for both Democrat and Republican candidates in the past.
Perhaps most importantly, Reverend Scott believes that Mr. Trump’s motives are pure, stemming from a sincere desire to serve his country, as Mr. Trump surely has the means to live out his life in comfort.
In addition to his busy life as a pastor, Reverend Scott has also organized the National Diversity Coalition for Trump (ndctrump.com) which seeks to educate voters with respect to Mr. Trump’s solutions for the challenges facing the U.S.
Speaking after the event, Dr. Don Moorehead, Vice-President of the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans stated that he intends to vote for Mr. Trump, and Dom Sciria, President of the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans stated that he believes that Mr. Trump is a strong advocate for the American Dream.
For Trump supporters who feel vilified by the opposition and thus reticent to discuss their support, Reverend Scott offered this final bit of advice: “We all learn from disagreements, and your true friends will not sever relationships over politics.”
