WASHINGTON, D.C. - OCA - Asian Pacific American
Advocates is now accepting applications for its 2016 Summer
Internship Program.
As OCA continues with the 26th year of its signature internship
program, we invite student advocates from all across the nation to
apply for the opportunity to be engaged in advocacy and professional
development through a national organization.
"Over these past 26 years, our interns have gained valuable
professional experience and personal connections through our
internship program. Many of our interns have gone on to prestigious
careers in the advocacy, government, and corporate sector. For many,
the OCA internship is an opportunity for a young person to better
define their goals and achieve success in their chosen careers, and
we look forwards to the continuation of the success of the OCA
internship program," said Ken Lee, OCA Chief Executive Officer.
During the 10 week program (June 8, 2016 - August 14, 2016), OCA
interns take on full time positions in federal agencies, nonprofit
organizations, congressional offices, and in public affairs units of
corporations in the Washington D.C. metro area. Placements are
determined by considering each intern's background, interest, and
skill level. Past interns have also gained valuable exposure to
national advocacy efforts, which have helped enhance their
activities in their local campuses and communities. Other intern
alumni have returned to Washington D.C. for full-time employment and
a life in public service.
Eligible candidates include full-time undergraduates and recent
graduates of any two-year or four-year institutions. Interns are
provided a living stipend of $2,500.00 dollars for the 10-week
program.
