Dear Anne,
Job creation and economic growth has been one of my top priorities
in the state Senate. That’s why I am pleased to report my bill, SB
1402, has been identified by the California Chamber of Commerce as a
“Job Creator.”
SB 1402, which has passed the State Senate, helps improve alignment
of the state’s workforce needs and education resources by
reauthorizing the Economic and Workforce Development program within
the California Community College system and updates the program with
a sector strategies approach.
Please tell the Governor to support SB 1402.
With support from business, labor and the education community, SB
1402 received broad bi-partisan support. But we need the Governor’s
signature to make sure SB 1402 becomes law.
Please join business, labor and community colleges in asking the
Governor to sign SB 1402.
It is time California start employing a sector strategies approach
in which we emphasize our comparative and competitive advantages.
Sector strategies are policy initiatives designed to promote the
economic growth and development of a state's competitive industries
using strategic workforce investments to boost labor productivity.
States such as Michigan and Pennsylvania have used a sector
strategies approach to deliver great results. I believe the best and
fastest way to balance our budget is to grow our economy.
Sector strategies work! Governor, please sign SB 1402.
Thank you for your support.
