FIRST WELLNESS-FOCUSED HOTEL OPENS ON CLEVELAND CLINIC CAMPUS

New InterContinental Suites Hotel Provides the Ultimate Health- and Wellness-Focused Experience Cleveland – InterContinental Hotels Cleveland announces the grand opening of the new wellness-focused InterContinental Suites. The 162-suite property is now much more than a hotel – it is a center of wellness and tranquility. The Intercontinental Suites Hotel is the first property of its kind in the InterContinental Hotels group, as well as the first wellness-focused hotel in Northeast Ohio.
“At the new InterContinental Suites, our motto is ‘Stay Well,’ said Neville Erasmus, executive assistant manager, InterContinental Suites. “From the moment guests arrive at the hotel, they will be able to experience a number of luxurious amenities, blended with the unique attributes of a wellness hotel, at an affordable price.” The new wellness-themed InterContinental Suites Hotel features unique design elements that fall in with the hotel’s theme, planned by Vocon design firm, as well as the sleek, modern style of renowned architect Bill Blunden. The hotel décor was designed to help soothe all of the senses: soft lighting and a smooth, buttery color palate; relaxing music and background sounds; supple, natural fabrics; fresh Mediterranean style cuisine; and calming aromatherapy.
Warm and cozy seating areas in the lobby provide comfortable spaces for guests to rest, relax or gather with friends and family. The new Wi-Fi Café provides a way for guests to stay connected, while enjoying the ambience and a number of flavorful refreshments.
C2, the InterContinental Suites’ new Mediterranean-style restaurant, lounge and bar accentuates the ambience of relaxation and rejuvenation. InterContinental Hotels Cleveland executive chef Vincent Cachot has designed a menu full of fresh, flavorful cuisine inspired by the beneficial Mediterranean diet. Both the restaurant and the Suites Hotel’s guest rooms will offer healthy alternatives to standard restaurant and room service cuisine, including items that fit the Cleveland Clinic’s GO! Foods requirements for healthy, enjoyable eating.

The new InterContinental Suites Hotel features an expanded fitness center with cardiovascular machines and a free weight station to ensure guests’ health and fitness while traveling. Expanded meeting facilities, unique technology upgrades and an experienced meetings and events staff will take the stress out of planning events and conducting business activities at the hotel.
A gift shop/ Wellness Store in the hotel lobby offers sundries and unique items from Cleveland Clinic’s new 360-5 wellness program, including personal health items, skin care and relaxation items.
The new InterContinental Suites also features new emWave? technology – an advanced heart-rhythm-coherence feedback system that helps individuals to reduce stress levels, manage emotions and improve their overall health. The emWave handheld systems allow guests to take charge of their own personal wellness throughout their stay at the InterContinental Suites.
For guests of the Cleveland Clinic and other Cleveland-area medical facilities, the InterContinental Suites will provide special touches to make their stay more comfortable, like completely accessible rooms and common areas; medicine refrigeration and storage units; special low-sodium, low-sugar cuisine; daily rest and relaxation tips; and other special wellness programs.
Guests who have allergies, or are simply looking for a more allergen-resistant environment, have the option to stay in PURE? Allergy Friendly Rooms. The cutting-edge PURE air purification system will be utilized in 13 hotel suites, in order to dramatically improve air quality and enhance guests’ experience. In addition, PURE rooms feature deluxe bedding encasements, with virtually allergen free pillow and mattress covers, to protect guests from irritants and pollutants.
“Our goal is to positively transform each and every guest that passes through the door of the InterContinental Suites,” said Erasmus. “Whether guests are short-term business travelers or long-term patients of the Cleveland Clinic, we will ensure that their experience promotes comfort, health and overall wellness.”
