歲月如梭,新春又至。伊利華報將在今年迎來她創刋以來的第九個年頭,與此同時,本報也在設想在今年適當時間繼續舉辦因財政狀况不允許而已經中斷的“伊利杯”活動。九年來,因爲有克里夫蘭、哥倫布、匹兹堡、辛辛那提以及周邊城市廣大讀者、廣吿客戶以及華人企業家的厚愛,本報得以生存並發展。但是由於世界和美國經濟大環境遲遲不能全面恢復,致使相當一部分廣吿商戶很難維持自身的生意,更無力支持華報,加上物價尤其是汽油價格的飛漲,印刷成本和各種費用的提高,本報一直還是處于入不敷出的尷尬財政狀態,不能達到收支平衡。目前雖然我們有心將伊利華報繼續擴大發行量和發行地區,但由於目前的種種困難,只能勉強保持現有的版面和發行數量,儘量採用臨時辦法渡過難關以維持報紙的繼續出版發行。相信這是全體讀者都不願意看到的結果。本報眞誠地希望能得到您資金上的援助,本報預先在此向愛心援助者表示感謝。

In the New Year season, it is hard to believe it also comes
the ninth year of Erie Chinese Journal since it was published. In
the past eight years, the newspaper was loved thus supported by so
many readers, donators and business clients in Cleveland, Columbus,
Pittsburg, Cincinnati and their sound areas, that is the reason why
it is alive and being developed to today. Due to regional and
national economy impacts, we lost a lot of business clients and even
more, from the cost increasing on gas, printing etc., our financial
state is under very difficult time never ever. We sincerely devote
our hearts and efforts to this newspaper as you all witnessed, and
if possible, we want to improve and expand it to more areas. But
under our current financial state we even have hard time to maintain
as is, per issue pages and publish quantity. I believe this is not
the situation our readers want to see. I especially want to thank
who has supported the newspaper in the past eight years. Your
continual support will help us out of the difficult time and further
maintain and improve for the future.
