Function: Assumes responsibility for curriculum design, development,
and instruction of Chinese language and culture in the Campus
International School (CIS) and other programs sponsored by the
College of Education and Human Services and the Confucius Institute.
Provides written and verbal communication of program development and
student progress to the Principal of the Campus International School
of Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and the Director of
the Confucius Institute at CSU. May teach evening, weekend, and
online classes in support of the Campus International School or
Confucius Institute mission. Interacts professionally with all
internal and external customers, including K-12 students and
parents, using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and Ohio teaching
licensure in the area of Chinese language instruction. Three years
full-time teaching experience in the United States in Chinese
language and culture. Outstanding oral and written communication
skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Knowledge of teaching
principles, practices and procedures and of principles of curriculum
development. Ability to work effectively across a broad spectrum of
the University and Campus International School community. Knowledge
of educational technology. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Chinese, Education, or
a related field. Experience teaching English as a second language.
Experience in early childhood education or elementary education.
