本報在上期頭版頭條刋登了《幫她架起回家的彩橋》-幫助美國家庭Jeff Jarrett
從中國收養盲人小女孩Jewel來美國團聚籌款晩餐及拍賣活動一文,3月22日晩,Jarrett
家庭如期舉辦了這個籌款晩餐會,當天,本報邀請了二十多位讀者朋友前去捧場,還有其他看了本報消息的熱心華人也自動到場,場面感人。大家被這樣一個樸實的家庭只是爲了愛到中國去收養Jewel
的故事所感動,一位華報讀者説她們星期日到中國超市買菜拿了伊利華報,對他們的愛心十分欽佩,本想寄張支票給他們,後來想想還是到現場來看更眞實,那位讀者太太對記者説:全台灣都找不到這樣好的人家。
Jarrett一家的愛心和友善受到人們的稱讚,同時我們也非常感動于這種包容的領養文化。生爲父母和子女,是血脈相承的聯繫,而世界之大,在茫茫人海中,養父母和孩子能夠相遇,最後能成爲家人,更是千年敬祈的緣分。

Annie,
We want to send out a "Thank you" to you and the
Cleveland area Chinese communtiy for all of the donations to help us
to bring Jewel home from China. We are well on our way to raising
the funds we need! The financial support, and the words of
encouragement we have received is overwhelming, and we don't know
the words to say "thank you" in the way that we feel that we should.
We feel so close to you all and look forward to remaining part of
the "family". We thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
We will keep you updated as we move along our journey. We can't wait
to talk to you again soon!
