LGBTQIA+ ENGAGEMENT
The White House Celebrates Pride Month

On Wednesday, June 26th, First Lady Jill Biden hosted a Pride Celebration on the White House South Lawn to showcase the contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community and highlight the Biden-Harris Administration's commitment to supporting and uplifting LGBTQIA+ families. The First Lady delivered remarks. Guests enjoyed a performance by award-winning singer and actress, Deborah Cox, and musical selections by DJ Trife.

President Biden Grants Pardon of LGBTQI
+ Service Members Wrongly Convicted

On Wednesday, June 26th, President Biden issued a statement granting a pardon of LGBTQI+ service members wrongly convicted.
Today, I am righting an historic wrong by using my clemency authority to pardon many former service members who were convicted simply for being themselves. Our Nation’s service members stand on the frontlines of freedom, and risk their lives in order to defend our country. Despite their courage and great sacrifice, thousands of LGBTQI+ service members were forced out of the military because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Some of these patriotic Americans were subject to court-martial, and have carried the burden of this great injustice for decades.

TECHNOLOGY
Actions to Increase Access to Affordable, High-Speed Internet

On Wednesday, June 26th, Vice President Harris announced new actions to increase access to affordable, high-speed internet.
Today, I am proud to highlight that we are finalizing a rule to allow schools and libraries – primarily in low-income and rural areas – to use funding from the Federal Communications Commission’s E-Rate program for Wi-Fi hotspots that will increase access to remote learning and virtual library services. Additionally, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will award over $9 million to the state of Nevada to implement their Digital Equity Plan. This is the first award issued under our Administration’s more than $1.4 billion State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program, which will help millions of families receive the resources, skills, and opportunities they need to access internet that is fast, affordable, and reliable.

HOUSING
New Actions on Housing
On Wednesday, June 26th, Vice President Harris announced first-of-its-kind funding to lower housing costs by reducing barriers to building more homes.
Vice President Harris announced the recipients of new grants under the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) grant competition with the goal of building more housing, and lowering housing and rental costs for American families. This announcement builds on sweeping actions to reduce barriers, boost housing supply, and lower costs, including:
* Leveraging discretionary grant programs to encourage state and local action to build more housing.
* Updated guidance for converting commercial property to housing. * Provided low-cost capital for housing.
* Finalized the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) “Income Averaging” rule.
* Streamlined and modernized the HOME program.
* Invested in making our nation’s affordable housing more energy efficient and resilient.
* Published a $235 million funding opportunity to support manufactured housing communities.
* Increasing loan limits for Title I Manufactured Housing.
* Made historic investments in homebuilding and community development in Indian Country.
* Expanded access to financing for homes with accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
Second Anniversary of the Overturning of Roe v. Wade

Two years ago, the Supreme Court took away a constitutional right from the American people, denying women across the nation the right to choose. President Biden and Vice President Harris stand with the vast majority of Americans who believe that the right to choose is fundamental and that health care decisions should be made between a woman and her doctor, not politicians.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Statement On the Deployment of the Multinational
Security Support Mission to Haiti

On Wednesday, June 25th, President Biden issued a Statement on the Deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission to Haiti.
Today, with strong support from the United States, Kenyan forces part of the Multinational Security Support mission arrived in Haiti, beginning an effort that will bring much needed relief to Haitians. Rampant gang violence has killed or harmed thousands of children, women, and men. Over half a million people have been displaced. Gender-based violence is widespread. As gangs hinder access to critical supplies, nearly five million Haitians now face severe food insecurity.
Haiti is an extraordinary country, and the people of Haiti deserve what people everywhere deserve: security, opportunity, and freedom. We are enriched by Haitian immigrants and Haitian Americans’ contributions. The United States has and will continue providing significant security, humanitarian, and economic development assistance, including my Administration’s strong support for trade preferences with Haiti.

STATEMENTS
Statement on Moyle v. United States
On Thursday, June 27th, President Biden issued a statement on Moyle v. United States.

Today’s Supreme Court order ensures that women in Idaho can access the emergency medical care they need while this case returns to the lower courts. No woman should be denied care, made to wait until she’s near death, or forced to flee her home state just to receive the health care she needs. This should never happen in America. Yet, this is exactly what is happening in states across the country since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
My Administration is committed to defending reproductive freedom and maintains our long-standing position that women have the right to access the emergency medical care they need. Vice President Harris and I will continue to fight for a woman’s right to make deeply personal health care decisions. And we will continue to fight to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade in federal law, for all women in every state across the country.
Statement on Iowa's Abortion Ban
On Friday, June 28th, President Biden issued a statement on Iowa's Abortion Ban.
Today, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the state’s extreme and dangerous abortion ban can go into effect. Iowa is the twenty-second state with an abortion ban, imposed by Republican elected officials, that puts women’s health and lives in jeopardy.
Vice President Harris and I believe that women in every state must have the right to make deeply personal decisions about their health. We will continue to call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade in federal law and stand firm against efforts made by Republican elected officials to undermine Americans’ fundamental freedoms.
Statement on Supreme Court Ruling in Loper Bright
On Friday, June 28th, Vice President Harris issued a statement on the Supreme Court Ruling in Loper Bright.
People throughout our Nation should be able to count on their government to ensure that our air and water are clean, health care is accessible and affordable, financial markets are sound, products are safe, and workers are not exploited on the job. Courts have long deferred to federal agencies who have the expertise and experience to make these ideals a reality.
Unfortunately, today’s Supreme Court decision sides with special interests, reversing a critical precedent that has been on the books for four decades. President Biden and I will continue to do everything in our power to protect the American people and ensure that every person in our country can thrive.
