Elm Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Park Grace K. Chang, 87, of
Muncie, Indiana, passed away on December 12th, 2023 at IU Ball
Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a trailblazing
Certified Public Accountant, distinguished educator, and matriarch
of an extraordinarily accomplished family.
Grace was born in Shanghai, China to Wen-Chuan Ni and Sing-San
Chin, and immigrated to join her fiancé, now husband of 64 years, in
the United States after attending Ming Chuan University in Taipei
ranking at the top of her class. She holds an MBA from Ball State
University and BBA from Woodbury University, Los Angeles. Prior to
founding her own practice, Accounting Data Services, she was a
public accountant at J.F. Long & Company.
In the early 1960s, Grace Chang made history by becoming the first
woman public accountant hired at a major firm in Washington, DC,
challenging and overcoming gender norms. Her contributions to the
accounting profession extend seven decades, showcasing enduring
dedication and expertise. She held leadership roles, including
President of the Indiana Society of Public Accountants, and taught
at Martin University, Ming Chuan University, National Chengchi
University, and Academica Sinica. She was President of Chinese
Gourmet Foods and Arts, Inc. in Muncie. Awarded Woman of the Year
2009 for Dedication and Excellence, Grace is nationally recognized
as Mother of the Year 2007, Outstanding Mother by the Chinese
American Parent Student Council in New York and Model Mother by the
Consolidated Benevolent Association and Chinese Consolidated Women’s
Association in San Francisco.
Grace’s journey, marked by resilience, leadership, and pioneering
achievements, left an indelible mark on the accounting profession
and beyond. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Grace is known
for her graciousness, generosity, and unwavering support of those
around her. Her legacy continues as mentor, guiding force, and
glowing source of inspiration.
Grace is survived by her husband Teh-Kuang Chang, children Angelo
(Darlene), Angelin, Angelina (Ronald), and Angel, and grandchildren
Sabrina, Dylan, Veronica, and Verity.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 23,
2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie,
Indiana 47304. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at

張德光和金幗嫦于1956年3月17日在台北訂婚,1959年10月11日在加州洛杉磯結婚,由李孟平總領事證婚。
在張德光和張金幗嫦結婚五十周年,但他們自己卻忘記了,當收到布什總統由白宮寄來的賀函時,他們才恍然一晤。十月十一日一大早門鈴響了,原來是快郵送來的寫有浦瑛夫婦和兩個小孩名字的鮮花,使他們深深體會到可貴的友誼,親家從西雅圖寄來了賀卡和嘉禮,子女也紛紛打來電話祝賀,使她們夫婦有一個最快樂的金婚紀念。
當浦瑛問他們美滿婚姻的秘訣和家庭和睦的方法時,他們坦誠地説:就是按中國文化傳統,中國有句古話,夫唱婦隨。他們夫妻之間攜手合作,孝順父母,愛護子女,兄弟姐妹互相幫忙,家和萬事興。
張金幗嫦女士説,好婚姻的秘訣之一就是要把戀愛時的心境帶到婚後,
譬如,我談戀愛時約會總是遲到,他就等我,結婚以後,有時約好的時間我還是遲到,他要是不高興,我就説,我原來就是這樣的啊,你知道的呀,他也就不計較了。結婚以後,他們夫婦也是常有“約會”的。他們都很忙,他對她的會計不感興趣,她對他的政治不感興趣,工作時他們各忙各的,那要有什么生日啊,結婚紀念日之類的,他們就約好時間出去吃飯、看電影,慶祝一番。張先生是福建人,張金幗嫦女士是上海人,兩人口味不一樣,他們選飯店就這一次選你愛吃的,下一次就去我喜歡的飯店,夫妻互相照顧,相敬如賓。張金幗嫦女士説,我常常吿訴孩子們,我的生活原則是“高高興興,健健康康”。
他們四個兒女都很有成就,便是由於他們的身傳言敎,他們給兒女各種發展機會。比如,在大兒子長到TEENAGE
時,他們怕孩子下課以後時間太多,做些不當的事,就開了一個小店,賣一些中國的東西,音樂,小食品等,顧了一個人看店,讓兒子去當經理,兒子下課以後,就到店里,給顧客介紹中國的産品,音樂,這樣,一方面他瞭解了中國文化,一方面培養了孩子的責任心,同時也積累了一些社會經驗,對孩子是個很好的鍛煉。
安麟也常到店里去,安麟長大一些後,在店里兄妹倆好吵架,做父母的就又開一家小店,讓安麟去當小經理。小店不爲賺錢,就是給孩子一個鍛煉的機會。
張德光和張金幗嫦夫婦培養孩子的一個總的指導思想就是讓他們自由發展,同時給他們指導和支持,不加壓力和強求。奇怪的是他們四個兒女從不爲“謀生”着想,而專心于事業發展,他們從不想理、工、醫、農,但他們有一個共同理願,便是造福人寰。
張安麒曾在白宮與國務院工作过。
張安麟四歲時,有敎授發現她有音樂趨向,父母便讓她向音樂上發展,選良師,進名校,給她一切支持,但從未給她任何壓力,一切由她自己自由發展,終于她取得成就,獲得格萊美音樂大奬和世界杰出靑年奬。
張安麗小時候,父母要她學醫,她説她不要做醫生,但要做醫生的頭,便是做管理醫生的人,
結果眞是如此,她就讀于美國“公共衛生”最知名的約翰霍普金斯大學,獲得公共衛生碩士,成爲加州大學醫院管理部門的高級分析師。
小女兒張安驊,有創造性,獲哥倫比亞大學碩士,在美國知名的當納凱倫公司任助理設計師,後來爲求自己發展,辭去工作,成立了張安驊時尙設計公司。第一次展出,獲得“明日之星奬”,參加世界性的巴黎比賽,獲得五大杰出靑年女企業家奬。
