Diverse Tech Interns Help Ohio

Companies Grow & Innovate

The Ohio Department of Development is encouraging Ohio businesses to participate in the state of Ohio’s Diversity & Inclusion Technology Internship program. The summer internships, funded by Ohio Third Frontier, can help companies fill their workforce needs by matching them with diverse college students across all areas of study ranging from marketing and design, to engineering, mathematics, and software development.
“Diverse students bring new ideas, experiences and perspectives,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development and chair of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission. “Their contributions will help companies stay competitive by identifying and implementing new technology-driven solutions.”
The program has a track record of success, with interns helping companies create mobile apps, build out websites, develop social media platforms to connect with new customers, conduct market research, data analysis, and product design, develop new AR and VR technologies, and implement new software to modernize accounting, operations, and enhance cybersecurity.
Companies and students can apply to participate in the program at TechIntern.Development.Ohio.Gov. The internships cover two-thirds of the intern’s wages up to $7,500, and companies can apply for up to four interns.
Students internships pay at least $15 an hour and provide great experience in business and entrepreneurship at some of Ohio’s most innovative companies.
