General Manager Is Using His Voice and Passion For The Community To
Launch The 2023 Campaign: Nothing About Us, Without Us!”
Two years ago, Jae Williams, the general manager of WOVU was
fighting for his life, in a coma after contracting COVID. He has
since recovered and is now fighting for his community by launching
the 2023 Nothing About Us, Without Us Campaign. Williams said he is
not running for political office. Instead, he wants to be a “trusted
voice” raising awareness about opportunities for Black and Brown
adults and children in our community while drawing attention to some
very important issues.
“I want to be a drum major to change the culture in our community,”
said Williams. “I want you to understand the slogan, Nothing About
Us, Without Us means you can no longer do things pertaining to our
community without us!”
Williams said we as a people are facing some very serious issues,
and during this 2023 Campaign, he is working alongside community
partners to address them including Black Women’s health and how they
are often misdiagnosed.
He has been in conversation with Airica Steed, EdD, MBA, RN, the
new President and CEO of MetroHealth who is committed to continuing
conversations about minority health. She has also spoken with
Williams about another important concern; the need for the entire
family to have CPR training that includes automated external
defibrillators (AED). According to Williams, we’d like to see up to
20,000 families receiving CPR training in Greater Cleveland.
Speaking of families, Williams said they are also working with Gen Z
to get 3 to 9 years olds involved in robotics. He added that we must
work with parents to push careers in robotics where kids can have
fun and learn very important robotic technology and the skills
needed now and in the future.
“We are also addressing the prison system and how to keep our young
people from being sent to adult prisons for crimes that do not
warrant it,” said Williams. “Imagine putting a child in with grown
people. It does not make sense, and we must do something about it.”
Williams added that he along with the Greater Cleveland Congregation
are working to turn that paradigm around to ensure better outcomes
for our young adults.
Williams shared that as they introduce Black and Brown individuals
to training opportunities in manufacturing, Magnet Cleveland is
allowing them to be a part of the fulfillment of providing full-time
careers for people in our community.
The campaign kicks off with a very special Song Service with
several of Gospel music’s favorite artists including the Bolton
Brothers and the Anointed Brown Sisters. All the musical guests are
listed on the website, gospelkidd.com. President Steed from
MetroHealth will be the guest speaker on March 31. In addition, the
Gospel Showcase gives talented local artists an opportunity to share
their talents while winning prizes of up to $1000, and a chance to
be on the program on April 1. As part of the kick-off, there is also
a luncheon for 150 women sponsored by Jewels In His Crown
Ministries.

我認識Jaw 是因爲與克利夫蘭市長同各族裔媒體負責人一起參加他的WOVU
95.9FM電台直播,後來Jaw又邀請我與他共同直播了一小時,幾次來往發現他是一個非常眞誠善良的人,他吿訴我兩年前他感染了Covid,在醫院昏迷24天,住院56天,醫生説他:如果他活着一定要做輪椅。等他離開醫院,他的身體幾乎恢復了原樣,他説這是上帝給的,上帝救了他,現在他要救他人,我被感動。
我不得不去思考,回想這幾年發生的事情:自2020年開始,説吃了蝙蝠肉,感染疾病,
因爲世上很多事是無法預測的,疫情讓世界不太平,一場疫情就讓全世界停止運轉,是一張$20假票,黑人弗洛伊德遭白人警察“跪脖”執法視頻引發出全美的抗議示威活動,讓人們不顧被感染,走上街頭維護人權。
大自然變臉,山雨欲來,疫情給人們帶來恐懼,而恐懼也是一種毒素傳染病,加上人心生病,結果全世界確診者超過千萬、至今死者超過500萬了。最後到底是怎么引起疫情還沒有正確答案。我們只能自己打理好自己的健康。

敎堂參與禮拜禱吿活動,大家在歌聲鮮花聲中,在祈福和平快樂聲中,相互問候對方,一幕幕難忘的場景給我留下深刻印象。
