My name is Ying Pu.
Since 1991 I have followed my dream in the United States. I love
this country for its education, freedom and peace. Also, here I have
realized my dream of becoming a publisher.
Since 2020, the world has changed. Covid-19 and the horrific
earthquake in Turkey and Syria makes me realize that while we cannot
prevent such natural disasters, war is preventable. Amidst the
ongoing conflict and devastating earthquake, I feel like life is
turning back. The many advances made by civilization, from
technology and medicine to material comforts can be wiped out in an
instant. The loss of life is the most painful and these two
neighbors now share an overwhelming grief.
The United States has attracted immigrants from all over the world,
with a dream of building a beautiful homeland. We don’t know what
will happen tomorrow, but we must live today. Each of us should take
care of the earth as we take care of our own heart.
