Mayor Frank G. Jackson's Week in Review
|
|
Dear Clevelanders,
On Thursday, October 7, I delivered my final State of the City
address at Public Auditorium. I want to thank you for allowing me to
serve as your Mayor for the past 16 years. During my address, I
shared my gratitude and my vision for Cleveland's future, and also
touched on many challenges that our City faces. You can watch a
recording of my State of the City address on our Facebook and
YouTube pages. View photos from the event here.
I also held a virtual press conference on Friday, October 8 to
answer questions from the media following my State of the City
address. To watch footage of the press conference, click here.
Here is a look at some of the announcements from this week:
October 1: We announced details for trick-or-treating and Big City
Boo 2021. The City of Cleveland will observe trick-or-treat hours in
neighborhoods throughout the City from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday,
October 31. On Friday, October 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the City
will host its annual Big City Boo celebration at all Neighborhood
Resource & Recreation Centers (NRRCs). Parents and caregivers can
bring children to NRRCs to enjoy events, games, prizes, food and
treats. Big City Boo provides Cleveland youth with a safe and fun
alternative to trick-or-treating. To ensure the safety of all
attendees, each NRRC will be staffed with off-duty police officers,
police zone cars and auxiliary police. For more info, click here.
October 8: The City of Cleveland reported 839 new coronavirus cases
for September 26 – October 2, bringing the total to 41,330
coronavirus cases and 548 resident fatalities. View the full report
here. I urge residents to stay safe amid the spread of the Delta
variant of COVID-19, and to get vaccinated to protect themselves
against the virus. To view my video message, click here. Those
seeking to be vaccinated can schedule an appointment by calling our
COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center at (216) 664-2222.
As a reminder, registration for Fall 2021 Programs at our
Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers (NRRCs) is now open. In
an effort to offer high-quality, interactive programming during the
COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Cleveland’s Mayor’s Office of
Prevention, Intervention and Opportunity for Youth and Young Adults
(PIOYYA) and the Division of Recreation will continue to offer
virtual and limited in-person activities in our NRRCs. Click here to
view the Fall 2021 Program Guide. Registration is available in
person or online at www.clevelandohio.gov/NRRCactivities. Class
sizes for all NRRC programs are limited and early registration is
advised. All programs are free.
I also invite interested residents to opt in to the new bi-weekly
curbside recycling program. Residents must sign up by October 22 via
the opt-in form or by calling 216-664-3030 and agree to the
recycling program guidelines. View a link to an FAQ sheet on the
recycling program. For more information visit www.clevelandohio.gov/waste.
Thank you and stay safe,
Frank G. Jackson
