4月24日，我與May和她的先生一起吃了午餐，我對May説您獲得的許多成功都有您背後的大樹Chen先生的財力支持，Asin大樓就是您們出資捐的。了不起的人做了不起的事情，一晃伊利華報明年就要20年了，我吿訴May先生，我還記得當初我創辦的時候去向他請敎，當時他説：10個老闆每人出2千，這個生意做不成。一晃就快20年。

我和May
認識有25年了,非常欽佩她對社區的無私奉獻。May的父親阮康成先生1937年來美國，是我的忘年交，伊利華報創刋號上的第一個人物故事就是May的父親。May
吿訴我：九歲那年，她不明白黑人的待遇在南方為什麼是那樣的，在公廁、學校到飯店都遭遇和白人區別對待。她只能努力去適應這個有多種族人群的國家，並試圖找到自己的位置。只有爲這個社會付出代價做好事才行。她做到了，她剛剛榮獲了美國國家奬：Americanism
award from daughters of American revolution。

May 25年前在Akron建立亞洲民眾服務協會，幫助了許多人，尤其難民，比如我認識的Hsa Myint
Win（伊利華報上期的人物故事），Hsa介紹我認識許多難民和他們在Akron的生活情况，他參與社會各個活動，4月18日Hsa在Akron
大學做精彩表演，4月19日Hsa帶我去看由亞洲民眾服務協會提供的項目：高中學生組織的捐款活動。陽光朝氣的高中生，他們在廚房忙着做吃的和各色珍珠奶茶，我購買了6包他們做的餅乾，女孩非常懂事送了我一杯奶茶。
其實，美國就是由不同族裔的人共同打造，才有了今天的美國。

CIVIC YOUTH INNOVATION
ENGAGE (CYI ENGAGE) PROGRAM
The Civic Youth Innovation Engagement (CYI Engage) Program is a
non-profit, student-led program with a mission to help students
learn and grow into community leaders. Our members have
opportunities to volunteer in the community, participate in personal
development workshops, and fundraise for a good cause. On April
17-18 we held our first Youth Food Fundraiser. In total we made
$1,526 and the profits will go towards college scholarships for our
members. Thank you to everyone who came to support! Special thank
you to Paing Family Asian Grocery and Asia Inc.
